2. Spencer the Rover
This tune was composed by Spencer the Rover,
who was as valiant a man who ever left home.
well he was much reduced which caused great confusion, and that was the reason he went on the road.
In Yorkshire near Rotheram he had been on his rambles, and being weary of traveling he sat down to rest. At the foot of the mountain there's a clear running fountain, and with bread and cold water himself did refresh.
And with the night fast approaching to the woods he resorted, with the woodbine and the ivy his bed for to make. Well he dreamt about sighing lamenting and crying, go home to your family and this rambling forsake.
Now his children sit around him with the prittle prattling stories, the prittle prattling stories to while cares away.now he’s as happy as those have thousands of riches, contented he’ll remain and never ramble away.
